KARACHI: Multan Sultans are confident with Mohammad Rizwan as their first-choice opener despite all the recent criticism on him in this regard.

Speaking to media before Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 8 draft, Rizwan was asked about any plan to make a shift in his batting number.

In response of the question, Rizwan kept smiling but Sultans' COO/manager Haider intervened and said he will keep on playing on his strength.

"As far as Multan Sultans is concerned, we have a different strategy to Pakistan team. We want Rizwan to play on a strategy that works for him. We are not here to make experiments," he said.

Meanwhile, Sultans' owner Alamgir Khan showed confidence in Rizwan regardless of which number he plays at.

"Rizwan can play on every position. We will utilise him where he is most useful for us," he added.

The right-handed wicket-keeper batter cemented his place in the national team soon after he performed as an opener. Rizwan opened for Pakistan in 54 innings and scored 2450 at an average of 56.98.

Opener Rizwan played an important role in Pakistan's first-ever win over arch-rivals India in an ICC World Cup event. In T20 World Cup 2021, Pakistan beat India by 10 wickets.

However, Rizwan, who impressed with his consistency, faced immense criticism for his strike-rate.
