Azam Khan scored 47 runs off 20 balls — T10 League

ABU DHABI: Pakistan's aggressive batter Azam Khan lit up the T10 League as he smashed a blistering 47 runs to help New York Strikers beat Morrisville Samp Army during the ongoing event.

Azam joined former England ODI skipper Eoin Morgan to score runs after the left-handed batter hit Chamika Karunaratne for a six. The wicket-keeper batter too scored a boundary to long-on and take 15 runs off the fifth over.

After Morgan and captain Kieron Pollard departed, Azam rose to the challenge and hit Cottrell for two consecutive sixes of the first and second deliveries of the seventh over. The first six was hit to the long-on and the second one to the backward square leg. Azam also hit the fifth ball for a boundary to fine leg to take 16 runs off that over.

Azam kept attacking fiercely and smashed the first delivery of Nortje's ninth over to mid-wicket for a six. He also struck him off the next for a boundary. The third delivery was also struck for a six, pushing the total above 100 runs.

However, Nortje finally sent the dangerous batter back to the pavilion after he scored 47 runs off 20 balls, including three boundaries and five maximums.

For his sensational performance, Azam was declared the Power Hitter of the Match.

The Strikers posted 110 runs on the scoreboard before restricting the Samp Army to 98 runs, thanks to Azam and a brilliant bowling performance.
