LAHORE: Bahawalpur Royals trounced Gwadar Sharks by 86 runs to clinch inaugural season of the Pakistan Junior League's (PJL) here at the Gaddafi Stadium on Friday.

The Sharks won the toss and elected to bowl first, which the Royals took advantage of and posted a mammoth 226 runs on the scoreboard before bowling out the Sharks for 140 runs in 15.1 overs.

Shamyl Hussain was the lone fighter for the Sharks, as he smashed 67 runs in 34 balls. However, no other Sharks' batter could show the intent to chase down the big total as they played shots without looking in control.

Danial Ibrahim (20*) and Arafat Minhas (19) looked good initially, but they couldn't find the rhythm.

Nangeyalia Kharote was exceptional with the bowl after a brilliant batting performance, claiming three wickets.

Apart from Nangeyalia, Mohammad Zeeshan also claimed three wickets, while Sajjad Ali took two scalps.

Earlier, Shawaiz Irfan and Tayyab Irfan guided the Royals to a mammoth 225 runs in 20 overs.

The Irfan duo were sensational in the grand finale as they scored a half-century each. Shawaiz played a quick-fire knock of 79 runs in just 32 balls, laced up with seven boundaries and six maximums. 16-year-old Tayyab scored 56 runs off 34 balls, including seven fours and a six.

Meanwhile, Basit Ali — the tournament's top run-getter, gathered 35 runs off 26 balls before getting out to Momin Qamar, who also claimed Shawaiz's wicket.

Middle-order batter Nangeyalia Kharote delivered with the bat in the mega final, amassing 47 runs in 30 balls.

For Sharks, Momin secured two wickets, while Mohammad Shoaib took a wicket.
