KARACHI: Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic has opened up on his retirement plans, saying he doesn't feel so old yet to bid farewell to the game.

Djokovic was part of an emotional send-off for Roger Federer, who retired following a doubles match with his favourite rival, Rafael Nadal, on Friday.

Nadal and Federer withdrew from the competition following the heartbreaking Friday night doubles match, but Djokovic made a strong comeback to the Laver Cup, leading Team Europe's attack.

With his victory at Wimbledon earlier this year, Djokovic has now won 21 Grand Slam events, one more than Roger Federer and one less than Rafael Nadal.

"I don't feel yet so old, to be honest, for my tennis career to finish. I still feel my body is serving me, is listening to me well. That's the key I think when you get to 35-plus," Djokovic said in London

"I'm not playing as much as I played a few years ago. I want to peak at the best tournaments, biggest tournaments in the world, which are Grand Slams and some of the biggest ATP events, playing for my country," he added.

Due to his decision to skip having a COVID-19 vaccination in 2022, Djokovic missed up to two Grand Slam competitions. Djokovic was denied entry to the US for the US Open, which was won by teen wonder Carlos Alcaraz.
