KARACHI: Pakistan wicket-keeper batter Kamran Akmal said on Friday that the Pakistan squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022 should be selected based on the conditions of Australia.

Talking to the media, Akmal said: 'Pakistan's squad for the T20 World Cup should not be selected based on friendship. The team should be selected on merit and based on the conditions of Australia." Adding: "I do not get a place in the T20 World Cup squad of the national cricket team."

Akmal also heaped praise on Pakistan's star wicket-keeper batter Mohammad Rizwan and said that no one can replace him in the shortest format of the game.

Kamran has been roped in as an 'Icon Player' by Bagh Stallions for the second edition of the Kashmir Premier League (KPL).

"Cricket fans are very enthusiastic about KPL, and to improve the quality of the tournament, we have to play good cricket in the tournament.

"KPL is the best opportunity for local young players to prove themselves and that young players should get experience from senior players," he added.

It should be mentioned here that the second edition of the KPL will take place from August 11 to 25 at the Muzaffarabad Cricket Stadium.
