KARACHI: Tamim Iqbal announced his retirement from T20Is, shortly after guiding the ODI team to a 3-0 series victory against the West Indies in Guyana.
Tamim was named player of the series after Bangladesh won the game by four wickets. Then, in Bangla, he posted a brief remark on his official Facebook page saying: "Consider me retired from T20 internationals from today. Thanks, everyone."
It puts an end to rumours that have been going around for a while regarding his choice to resume playing the format he had stopped doing in January of this year.
From 2007 to 2018, Tamim was a consistent member of the Bangladesh T20I team, appearing in 75 of a possible 84 matches. He finished third in run scoring with 1701 runs at an average of 24.65, and he is still the only batter for Bangladesh to have scored a century.
