ISLAMABAD: Former international cricketer Mohammad Amir was named an icon player of defending champions Rawalakot Hawks for Kashmir Premier League (KPL) season 2. 

As announced by the franchise, Amir will play as an icon player for them in the new edition which is scheduled in Muzaffarabad from August 1 to 14. 

"Having massive experience of T20 cricket, Amir adds strength to our side in upcoming KPL season 2 as our icon player," the franchise said in a statement.  

Amir expressed his gratitude for becoming the icon player. "I am happy to become a part of Rawalakot Hawks. Thanks to the management and coach Arshad Khan for having me," said Amir, who represented Pakistan in 50 T20Is and took 59 wickets.
