Ghizer Tiger, Ghizer Highlanders qualify for next round of NLC Polo Tournament 2022
A total of five teams are participating in the tournament
PHANDAR: Ghizer Tiger and Ghizer Highlanders qualified for the next round of the NLC Polo Tournament 2022, being played here in the scenic Phandar Valley of Gilgit-Baltistan.
In the opening match of the tournament, Ghizer Tiger convincingly defeated Ghizer Bazigar by three goals. Ghizer Tiger scored seven goals while Ghizer Bazigar posted only four goals.
In the second match, Ghizer Highlanders defeated Phandar Defender 6-3 to qualify for the next round of the tournament. A total of five teams are participating in the tournament.
Free Style polo is infamous in the region, but due to COVID-19 restrictions, no sporting event had been organized in Phandar Valley since 2020.
It should be noted here that 'freestyle polo' is exclusively played in Gilgit Baltistan and Chitral. These are the only two regions in the world where the game is played without rules or regulations, making it far more difficult and dangerous.
