KARACHI: Pakistan pacer Hasan Ali has revealed that the dropped catch against Australia in the semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2021 was a hard pill to swallow as it gave him nightmares for a couple of nights.

Matthew Wade was dropped in the deep by Hasan off Shaheen Afridi's bowling, with Australia needing 22 runs from the final two overs. He then went on to hammer three consecutive sixes to send Australia to the tournament final. Australia went on to win the T20 World Cup for the first time in its history.

"That dropped catch in the semi-final against Australia did give me nightmares for a couple of nights," said Hasan in an interview with PakPassion.

"I was in deep shock and felt very low for letting the side down at that point and couldn't figure out how and why I dropped that catch. Especially given that as an individual and a team we trained very hard on our fielding-so it was a tough pill to swallow for me," he added.

The right-arm pacer also said that it's painful for him as he feels that people have started to hate him after the dropped catch.

"Of course, for me, it’s more painful because I feel that people have started to hate me and started believing that I am incapable of playing for Pakistan.

"But then this is the strange thing about cricket because in our practice sessions during that tournament, I caught close to 500 catches without dropping any," the 27-year-old further added.

Hasan is currently representing Lancashire County Cricket Club in the County Championship 2022, and he has been sensational for his side, claiming five wickets in the opening match and getting six scalps in the first innings of the second match against Gloucestershire County Cricket Club.
