PAK vs AUS: Bad light called off Day 2 after Pakistan declares first innings on 476-4

The overnight pair of Imam, Azhar remained calm and composed, putting up decent effort for Pakistan

RAWALPINDI: Umpires at Pindi Stadium called off Day 2 due to bad light after just an over was bowled in Australia's first innings. 

Usman Khuwaja scored five runs whereas David Warner remained run-less as the two batters were forced to walk out due to bad light after their team had another frustrating day with the ball. 

Pakistani skipper Babar Azam declared their first innings on 476-4 after Azhar Ali played misjudged reverse sweep to get out off Marnus Labuschagne, scoring 185 runs

Mohammad Rizwan (29*) and Iftikhar Ahmed (13*) dealt with few last over before Babar called them back. 

Veteran batter Azhar took control after Imam-ul-Haq departed off Pat Cummins and scored 151 runs as Pakistan scored 394-2 at Tea on Day 2 of the opening Test here at Pindi Stadium.  

Azhar notched runs all around the park as his eye-catching knock included 12 boundaries and two sixes. Azhar also joined 150-runs Pakistani batters club against Australia.

Skipper Babar Azam joined him in the middle and raced the run-rate as expected with some early boundaries. He was on 34-not-out including three boundaries.  

Earlier, Imam scored his maiden 150 whereas Azhar showed his true temperament to help Pakistan post 302-1 at Lunch on Day 2 to take complete control over Australia. 

The overnight pair of Imam and Azhar remained calm and composed after Pakistan resumed their first innings on Day 2 at 245-1. The duo put up a decent effort to add 67 runs before Lunch. 

Australian bowlers returned with a prominent effort after a frustrating first day of the Test. But, Azhar and Imam opened their hands after defensively playing initial couple of overs. 

Imam cruised to his 150, adding 22 runs to his overnight score of 132. He managed to score a boundary on Day 2, taking the count to 16 altogether alongside two maximums. 

The left-hander was survived behind the stumps before his 150 as Australia missed an opportunity to take the review. 

Azhar, on the other hand, utilized his experience and scored 31 handy runs to see his score ticking on the digital screen. He walked off for lunch at 95-not-out. 

Imam joined elite list of Pakistani batters who scored 150 runs against Australia in Tests. He became the 10th Pakistani batter to achieve this feat and it was 11th occasion, that a 150-run knock came from Pakistani batter. Younis Khan did it twice.
