Former Pakistani cricketer Danish Kaneria believes that the Indian team's tour to South Africa is Virat Kohli's last chance to prove himself as the skipper of the Indian cricket team.

The leg-spinner said that India have won Test series in Australia and England, but if Virat Kohli has to prove himself, he has to deliver with the bat and make his team win.

For Virat Kohli, it's a very big tour because India has never won a [Test] series in South Africa. They've won in England and Australia, but this time in South Africa, it will be Virat Kohli's last chance as captain to win a series in South Africa, said Kaneria.

He stated that Kohli has "got to score runs with the bat, he has got to make his team win, and he has got to prove himself on the tour, especially after the way the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) kicked him out (of the ODI captaincy).

Kohli was removed from India's ODI captaincy on December 8 by the BCCI and was replaced by Rohit Sharma, who was earlier appointed as the T20 captain during the T20 World Cup 2021.
