Peshawar Zalmi's wicketkeeper batsman Kamran Akmal withdrew from playing in the seventh season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) after he was picked by the franchise in the Silver Category instead of the Gold one.

Kamran Akmal has been part of Peshawar Zalmi since the start of the Pakistan Super League. However, the six year-long relationship ended Sunday night as Kamran Akmal announced his decision to withdraw.

During the PSL drafting on December 12, the 39-year-old was picked by Peshawar Zalmi in the Silver category.

However, Kamran Akmal did not like the move. He asked Peshawar Zalmi to release him from his contract.

"I don't think I deserve to play in the Silver category, given that I have done so much for Peshawar Zalmi. It would be good if they pick someone else instead of me," Kamran Akmal said on his official Youtube Channel.

Akmal was demoted from Diamond to Gold in the initial category renewal.

"I hardly managed to motivate myself to play in the Gold category initially but given my track record, demotion to Silver is not what I deserve," he added.

Akmal concluded by thanking Peshawar Zalmi, his teammates, and the coaching staff for an amazing journey spanning six years.
