Sri Lanka’s legendary batsman Kumar Sangakkara has gone in self-quarantine following his return from London which has become one of the new hubs of coronavirus, Press Trust of India reported on Monday.

The cricketer explained that his health was fine but was following medical protocols laid down by the country's government.

"I have no symptoms or anything like that, but I'm following government guidelines," Sangakkara said.

"I arrived from London over a week ago and the first thing was there was a news bulletin saying that anyone who had travelled from within March 1 to 15 should register themselves with the police and undergo self quarantine. I registered myself with the police," he said.

It is pertinent to mention that Sri Lanka has reported more than 80 cases of the pathogen in the country.
