LAHORE: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar has appointed Chief Secretary Punjab Zahid Akhtar Zaman as a member of the Board of Governors of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
The appointment was formalised through a notification issued by the cabinet division. Zahid Akhtar Zaman, who is currently serving as Chief Secretary Punjab, has been entrusted with immediate responsibilities within the PCB.
Alongside his role in the provincial administration, Zaman will now contribute as a member of the PCB Board of Governors.
This appointment comes as part of the ongoing efforts to strengthen and enhance the governance structure of the PCB, with individuals from various backgrounds contributing their expertise to the development and management of cricket in Pakistan.
Earlier, two High-Performance Centres were handed over to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) by the Government of Punjab in a bid to nurture cricket talent.
Located in Sialkot and Faisalabad, these centres will be used for the development of cricket infrastructure.
“Each High-Performance Centre has state-of-the-art facilities tailored to elevate the skills and performance of upcoming cricketers. Among the highlights are dedicated cricket grounds, equipped to the highest standards, providing the ideal environment for players to train and play matches,” the PCB said in a press release.
“The High-Performance Centres are open to players of all ages and genders. With the addition of these two High-Performance Centres, PCB now is in possession of five High-Performance Centres. The other three are National Cricket Academy in Lahore, Hanif Mohammad High-Performance Centre in Karachi and Inzamam-ul-Haq High-Performance Centre in Multan.
“The PCB will now start planning events and coaching programmes, at the two newly inducted High-Performance Centres.”
