Former Pakistan batter Bazid Khan has picked his national squad for the upcoming 2024 T20 World Cup which will be played in the West Indies and the United States from June 1.

The Men in Green are playing against New Zealand in the five-match series to prepare for the T20 World Cup. They will travel to Ireland and England next month to play a series of three and four T20Is, respectively.

Before the start of the final T20I between Pakistan and New Zealand, Bazid was asked which players he would choose for the World Cup.

Bazid excluded regular leg-spinner Usama Mir and included pace-bowling all-rounder Aamer Jamal in his squad.

"You got so many spinners and they can pick from Imad Wasim, Shadab Khan, Abrar Ahmed and all-rounders Iftikhar Ahmed and Saim Ayub.

"If they want to go with a pace-bowling all-rounder, I could think of Aamer Jamal. He doesn't have big records but stands up at big moments," he added.

Meanwhile, he named emerging wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Haris for his aggressive batting approach.

"We talk about players who hit the ground running and score quickly, Mohammad Haris is one of those players. He won't waste balls in powerplay and attack from ball one," he concluded.

Bazid’s Pakistan squad for T20 World Cup:

Babar Azam (c), Mohammad Rizwan, Mohammad Haris (wk), Azam Khan (wk), Iftikhar Ahmed, Shadab Khan, Fakhar Zaman, Saim Ayub, Imad Wasim, Abrar Ahmed, Aamir Jamal, Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah, Mohammad Amir, Haris Rauf

Remember, Pakistan is in Group A with arch-rivals India and the two sides will take on one another in one of the most anticipated matches of the World Cup on June 9 at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, New York.
