LeBron James’ son, Bronny James, has decided to enter the 2024 NBA draft after being declared fit to play, the 19-year-old announced via his Instagram account.
Bronny, the oldest child of James, recently completed his freshmen season University of Southern California (USC) Trojans and is ready to test himself in the NBA.
“I’ve had a year with some ups and downs but all added to growth for me as a man, student and athlete,” Bronny said on Instagram. “I’ve made the decision to enter the NBA Draft while maintaining my college eligibility, and will also be entering the NCAA transfer portal.
“Thank you to USC for an amazing Freshman year, and as always thankful for my family, friends, doctors, athletic trainers and fans for their support.”
After experiencing a cardiac arrest in July 2023, Bonny remained on the sidelines for months as he continued his recovery from the scare. He was treated at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles after which he was sent back home.
Five months after the incident, he was declared fit enough to play by the doctors and was soon in action at USC in December where he also scored his first point.
As Bronny is now all set to take part in the NBA draft, there will be speculation if we will be seeing the father-son duo of LeBron and Bronny James. The all-time NBA leading scorer had already confirmed that he will spend the last year of his career playing alongside his son.
“My last year will be played with my son,” James told the Athletic in 2022. “Wherever Bronny is at, that’s where I’ll be. I would do whatever it takes to play with my son for one year. It’s not about the money at that point.”
