Kobe Bryant's 2000 NBA Championship ring was auctioned for nearly $1 million, as reported by Daily Mail.

The auction concluded with a top bid of $927,000 for the ring commemorating Bryant's inaugural NBA Championship with the Los Angeles Lakers.

This sale set a record for the most expensive NBA title ring, as per Goldin, the auctioneer.

Previously, the record was held by a 2021 auction featuring Bill Russell's 1957 championship ring with the Boston Celtics.

Originally, the ring was a gift from Bryant to his father, Joe 'Jellybean' Bryant.

This ring is an additional copy of the championship gift Kobe won, specifically ordered by him to present to his father over two decades ago.

According to Goldin, this is not an executive version of the championship ring, but the exact ring given to Bryant, Shaquille O'Neal, and other Lakers players.

This is the same ring the Bryant family attempted to sell in 2013, sparking controversy for potentially relinquishing a piece of NBA history. Over a decade later, a sale has been realised.

More than 40 bids were placed on Bryant's ring, which boasts 40 diamonds set in a 14-karat piece. The ring also features the No. 8, worn by Bryant during the first decade of his NBA career, according to Goldin.

The identity of the new owner was not disclosed by Goldin.
