The Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC) Cricket Ground in Colombo, Sri Lanka — often referred to by its historic name Maitland Place — is one of the country’s most iconic and traditional cricket venues.

Located in the Cinnamon Gardens district of the city, it has been the headquarters of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) since its establishment at this site in 1952.

In terms of capacity and spectator facilities, SSC traditionally accommodates around 10,000 spectators, with most of its seating comprising grass banks and modest stands around the oval.

Recently, SSC has undergone significant upgrades ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, enhancing its infrastructure and global competitiveness.

For the first time in its long history, floodlights have been installed, transforming the ground into Sri Lanka’s fifth international venue capable of hosting day?night matches.
