Former England bowler Steve Harmison has claimed that Pakistan captain Babar Azam shouldn’t be opening the innings in T20Is.
Ahead of the final showdown of the three-match T20I series between Pakistan and England, the former right-arm fast bowler said in a video posted on his YouTube channel, Fakhar Zaman should open the innings for Green Shirts instead of Babar.
“Fakhar Zaman going in at number one, alongside Mohammad Rizwan, and Babar Azam at number three,” he said.
“I think that would be a better balance for me if I was a Pakistan fan because I’m not going to lose my best batsman in the first couple of overs to an absolute beauty in English conditions or any conditions where the ball is moving. He gets 18 overs to bat especially when you haven’t got the depth [in the batting order],” he added.
The first T20I kicked off on a high note for Pakistan as Babar and Mohammad Rizwan both powered the team towards a weighty target. The skipper played a spectacular knock of 85 that helped rout the hosts.
However, England bounced back in the second T20I, leveling the series 1-1.
