South Africa’s former Test captain Faf du Plessis will not take any further part in the PSL for the 2019 champions Quetta Gladiators.

The right-handed experienced batsman was scheduled to fly back to South Africa on Wednesday night.

Faf had a concussion when he faced a nasty collision with his teammate Mohammad Hasnain on Sunday. Though he walked back to his team’s dugout after the collision, he was later taken to hospital for examination. Faf later revealed that he had lost some memory.

Saim Ayub had been included as a concussion substitute for Faf in that show.

And on Wednesday Gladiators said that he was going back. “Faf du Plessis will not be able to take any further part in the PSL after a nasty collision earlier in the tournament. Faf will be flying back to South Africa tonight,” Gladiators said in a statement on Wednesday.

Faf scored 76 runs in five matches which he played in the PSL this season.
