Pakistan captain Babar Azam has moved up to the second position in the latest Men’s T20I batsmen’s ranking released by International Cricket Council (ICC) today.

Following his match-winning performances against South Africa, Babar with 844 points successfully moved one spot up to replace Australia’s limited-overs captain Aaron Finch.

The Pakistani skipper was the highest run-getter in the recently concluded three-match T20I series against the Proteas. He scored 210 runs at an average of 52.50 and was awarded Man of the Series.

Babar is now only behind England’s Dawid Malan who is on top of the rankings with 892 points.

With only 48 points difference between Babar and Malan, the ongoing three-match series against Zimbabwe will provide the former an opportunity to grab the top spot for the second time in his career.

This is the second time in this month that Babar has advanced within the ICC rankings. Earlier last week, Babar had overtaken the Indian captain Virat Kohli to become the number one ODI batsman in the world.
