A five star hotel has been booked on Abdullah Haroon Road in Karachi for the remaining 20 matches of Pakistan Super League (PSL) season six in which all the participating teams, officials and commentators will stay.

The entire management of the hotel with over 300 rooms, halls, conference rooms and restaurants will stay with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

The hotel staff will also be a part of the bio-secure environment this time and will not be allowed to go home during the tournament.

Meanwhile, the hotel where the teams stayed before the PSL was postponed earlier this year has been removed from the list because of alleged mismanagement. According to the PSL 6’s fact-finding report submitted on April 4, the hotel management was also found to be involved in the Covid-19 outbreak reported in the bio-secure bubble.

Multiple players tested positive for the coronavirus in March during the sixth edition of PSL that forced the PCB into postponing the country’s premier T20 tournament.

However, this time a different company will oversee the bio-secure operations. PCB’s chief executive Wasim Khan is currently in London to finalize an agreement with a foreign company to set up the bio-secure bubble for the remaining matches of the tournament scheduled to take place in June.

While the foreign company will implement its own system, the biggest problem for the PCB is to allow media personnel into entering the media center located inside the main building of the stadium.

The foreign company will decide whether the media will be allowed to enter the National Stadium or not. There are reports that only a limited number of media representatives will be allowed and adjusted in temporary corporate centers in corporate boxes adjacent to the main building.

As the matches will take place without the spectators, the corporate boxes are expected to be empty.

The PCB will soon call a PSL Council meeting and take several important decisions.
