Former Pakistan star all-rounder Shahid Afirdi has called for Shoaib Malik’s inclusion in Pakistan’s twenty20 squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup scheduled to take place in October this year.
The 44-year-old’s comment came after Pakistan’s three-wicket victory against South Africa n the final T20 at SuperSport Park in Centurion on Friday.
While congratulating the Men in Green on the 3-1 series victoryagainst the Proteas, Afridi highlighted the middle-order woes of the team, suggesting Malik might be a solution to the long-lasting problem.
“Congratulations Pakistan on the series win!” the former captain wrote on the bird-site. “Despite the victory we need to review the middle-order performances where we seem to be struggling for a long time.
“I think Shoaib Malik must be considered again, especially since it's a T20 World Cup year.”
Although, Pakistan’s top-order and bowlers led the team to successive series victories against South Africa, its fragile middle-order was exposed as no batsman could make any notable contribution.
