Pakistan uncapped batsman Saud Shakeel has recovered in time and is completely fit to travel with other members of the national Test squad for the two match series against Zimbabwe starting April 29, Jang reported today.

According to the Urdu daily, the 25-year-old will depart for Harare alongside the red-ball squad on April 21.

Saud, who was also part of Pakistan’s one-day international (ODI) squad for the three-match series against South Africa, was ruled out due to injury. The youngster had suffered a Grade-1 quadriceps tear in his left leg during a 50-over-a-side practice match at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore ahead of team’s departure.

Pakistan Cricket Board had then replaced Saud with Asif Ali in the 50-over squad as the batsman fulfilled Covid-19 requirements and was already travelling with the team as a twenty20 player.

Meanwhile, Saud was asked to stay at National High Performance Centre and work on his recovery. His departure with the Test squad was conditional on him regaining his fitness.

Pakistan will play Zimbabwe for three T20Is and two Tests from April 21 to May 11 in Harare.
