South African batsman Rassie van der Dussen has been ruled out of the third and final one-day international (ODI) against Pakistan scheduled today at SuperSport Park in Centurion.

The news was confirmed by Cricket South Africa on its official social media pages. “Rassie van der Dussen has been ruled out of the ODI series decider after suffering a Grade One left quadriceps muscle strain,” the CSA said.

It’s a major blow to the home side given they were already short of five key players – Quinton de Kock, Kagiso Rabada, David Miller, Anrich Nortje and Lungi Ngidi – who left the national squad to participate in the Indian Premier League scheduled to begin on April 9.

Dussen has been South Africa’s highest scorer with 183 runs to his credit and averages 183 – the best overall in the series so far.

The three-match series is currently leveled at 1-1 with the final encounter set today at 1pm (PST).
