Sarfaraz Ahmed likely to play in South Africa ODI series: sources

Former Pakistan cricket captain Sarfaraz Ahmed is likely to play in the three-match one-day international (ODI) series against South Africa starting April 2, Geo News reported.

Sources privy to the matter said that the 33-year-old is likely to keep the wickets while his competitor Mohammad Rizwan will play as a batsman.

They added that the team management is considering to make Rizwan bat at number 4 and Sarfraz at number 5.

Regarding the wicket-keeper batsman’s inclusion in the ODIs, head coach Misbah-ul-Haq and national team captain Babar Azam have also been consulted.

Meanwhile, middle-order batsmen Haider Ali or Asif Ali are likely to be dropped from the team in case Sarfaraz plays, the sources added.
