Karachi: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Friday decided to outsource the management of its bio secure bubble for remainders of Pakistan Super League (PSL) edition six matches.

In a top level meeting of PCB in Karachi, a day after the PSL 6 was postponed indefinitely, various possibilities about when, where and how to organize the remaining games of the season were discussed.

A source privy to the matter confirmed that all the remaining matches will be held in one city of Pakistan and bio-secure management will be outsourced to a company which has previous experience of holding such events.

“It has been decided that only one city will host the games and there are three windows under consideration,” a PCB source said. “Karachi, Lahore or Rawalpindi – it’s going to be one city from these three.”

A UK based company Restrata was hired by England and Wales Cricket Board for arrangements during Pakistan’s series against England. The same company oversaw arrangements in United Arab Emirates for Indian Premier League (IPL) last year.

“The same company is likely to be hired for our bio secure arrangement,” the source said.

PCB will likely face challenges regarding availability of players and international calendar while re-scheduling the event in the windows available. “Windows are May, June or September. We will discuss players’ availability and international calendar with franchises before reaching a final conclusion on dates for remaining matches,” the source said.

Having the tournament in May will directly clash with IPL where some of PSL players have also signed up while organizing it in June, post IPL, will have a weather challenge. In September, however, the window PCB is considering is just before arrival of New Zealand team.
