Karachi: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Sunday allowed Peshawar Zalmi’s captain Wahab Riaz and coach Darren Sammy to reintegrate with the squad ahead of their first match in HBL PSL 6 against Lahore Qalandars at National Stadium Karachi.

“Appeal of a player and official guilty of breaching bio-secure bubble on Friday, has been accepted. The two have been allowed to integrate with the side,” said a PCB official without taking any names

The two players were sent to isolation earlier on Friday after they were found guilty of breaching the bio-secure bubble. Wahab and Sammy had then appealed to the board expressing their regret on the ’unintentional mistake.’

“The team has offered its regrets to the PCB on Friday’s breach and has thanked the PSL ETC for accepting their appeal. They have further assured that protocols will be followed and respected as everyone wants the PSL to succeed,” the official added.

The PCB has also confirmed that both the player and the coach returned with two negative tests between breach and reintegration. A test was also conducted on the person outside the bubble who had met the two, which also returned negative.

“According to protocols, the moment breach was reported and the two were sent in isolation. They were tested for COVID-19 then and both returned with two negative results,” the official said. “PCB accepted the appeal only after the results of people involved in breach were received.”
