Pak vs Zim: In upcoming meeting, PCB wants Misbah to identify strategy for home series

Head coach Misbah-ul-Haq is expected to brief the PCB high-ups in a meeting that has long been postponed.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) CEO Wasim Khan has hinted that the long-planned but postponed meeting of Board officials with Misbah-ul-Haq is unlikely to take place this week either, but said that whenever it does take place, the head coach will have a lot of explaining to do.

Following the team’s return from the tour of England last month, Misbah was expected to brief Wasim and PCB Chairman Ehsan Mani and review his one year in the job as part of his appraisal procedure.

However, the start of the domestic season as well as scheduling conflicts mean that the meeting has not materialised yet, and is not expected to be this week either.

“Ehsan Mani was not in Lahore this past week, while Misbah-ul-Haq was in Multan and now I have to visit Islamabad on Thursday (today). We will try and do this meeting soon,” Wasim told a Geo Super representative.

The PCB CEO said that when the three parties meet, “Ehsan Mani will also certainly talk to Misbah regarding the meeting with Prime Minister Imran Khan.”

It is pertinent to mention here that the Misbah-led group’s unsanctioned meeting with the prime minister last month was not well-received by the PCB officials.

“We also want to review Misbah’s body of work during his first year,” Wasim added. “Misbah will have to brief us on his future plans and will also have to tell what he’s planning to do in the Zimbabwe series, and whether or not he intends to play young players.”
