Barcelona reject PSG offer for World Cup hero Ferran Torres

Barcelona have rejected an initial offer from Paris Saint-Germain worth an estimated 40 million euros ($46.2m) for Spain forward Ferran Torres, according to international media reports on Monday.

Spanish media reports claim Torres has agreed to join the French champions and reunite with former Spain manager Luis Enrique, who currently leads PSG.

The 26-year-old forward, whose contract with Barcelona runs until June 2027, has remained non-committal over his future in recent interviews during a promotional tour of the United States.

“I have a contract with Barcelona, but in football you never know. I’m just waiting to make the right decision,” Torres said.

Asked whether he had a “dream” destination in mind, Torres confirmed that he did but declined to reveal the club.

“I just want to be happy,” he added.

Torres joined Barcelona from Manchester City in 2021 for a fee of more than 55 million euros. Since Hansi Flick took charge in the summer of 2024, he has largely operated as a centre-forward and provided back-up to Poland striker Robert Lewandowski.

The former Valencia academy player has frequently made an impact from the bench, scoring 40 goals in 94 appearances across all competitions over the past two seasons.

Torres enjoyed a defining moment last month when he scored Spain’s winning goal in extra time of the 2026 World Cup final against Argentina, securing La Roja’s second world title.

It is pertinent to mention that the blaugrana club is in talks with Manchester City over Rodri's transfer.
