PCB announces commentary panel for National Champions Cup 2026
National Champions Cup will feature four teams competing in a single round-robin format
MULTAN: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Monday announced the commentary panel for the National Champions Cup 2026, which is set to take place at the Multan Cricket Stadium from August 11 to 18.
According to a graphic shared by the PCB on its social media platforms, the five-member commentary panel comprises former Pakistan captain Salman Butt, Ali Younis, Tariq Saeed, Aimen Anwar and Raja Asad.
The National Champions Cup will feature four teams competing in a single round-robin format, with Pakistan Greens, Pakistan Whites, Pakistan Blues and Pakistan Gold facing each other once in the league stage.
The top two teams in the standings will qualify for the final, which is scheduled to be played on August 18. The four sides will be led by Shadab Khan, Saim Ayub, Sahibzada Farhan and Shaheen Shah Afridi, respectively.
The tournament will play an important role in the PCB's preparations for the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2027, with several established internationals and emerging players set to feature in the competition.
The PCB has selected 44 players across the four squads, while a 13-player reserve pool has also been established.
Reserve players will only be permitted to replace members of the playing squads in the event of an injury or concussion during the tournament.
The competition will provide the national selectors with an opportunity to closely monitor players and assess emerging talent ahead of the 2027 World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia.
