Guimaraes reveals message from Arsenal star before arriving at Emirates

Bruno Guimaraes has shared a message Arsenal star Declan Rice sent him before his move to the Emirates from Newcastle United.

Arsenal have completed the signing of Guimaraes from Newcastle, the Premier League champions announced on Saturday.

Guimaraes has signed a deal that will keep him at the Emirates Stadium for the next four years, with an option for a further one-year extension.

According to reports in British media, the deal is worth around 75 million pounds ($101.16 million) for the Brazil international, adding the midfielder to Mikel Arteta’s squad.

The Gunners last season won the Premier League and reached the final of the UEFA Champions League, where they lost to PSG on penalties. They are strengthening their squad and aiming to become the European champions this campaign. They have also signed the likes of Christos Tzolis and Illan Meslier.

After the signing was announced on Saturday, Guimaraes revealed that Rice had sent him a welcome message, telling him, “no more fights from now on.”

"Rice sent me a message: 'Come here and please no more fights, now we’re friends'. I was happy he messaged me. The midfield we have here, in my point of view, is one of the best in Europe," Guimaraes said.

Declan Rice is Arsenal’s record signing after they brought him from West Ham United in 2023 for a fee of £105 million.

Bruno Guimaraes is expected to join Rice in the midfield alongside Martin Odegaard and Martin Zubimendi.

Arsenal will open the defence of their league title at home to Coventry on August 21st.
