Cam Taylor-Britt suspended for Indianapolis Colts’ season opener

Indianapolis Colts cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt has been suspended for one game by the NFL on Friday and will miss the team’s season opener against the Baltimore Ravens on 13th September.

The league announced the suspension after determining that Taylor-Britt had breached the NFL’s personal conduct policy.

The 26-year-old pleaded guilty on 6th January 2026, two days after the conclusion of the 2025 regular season, to charges of reckless driving and driving without a valid driving licence. 

The charges arose from two traffic stops in 2025, with Taylor-Britt subsequently serving five days in jail.

Taylor-Britt joined the Colts in March on a one-year contract worth $1.402 million. He is expected to provide depth behind projected starting cornerbacks Sauce Gardner and Charvarius Ward.

The cornerback spent his first four NFL seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals, starting 40 of the 47 games he played. 

He enjoyed his most productive spells in 2023 and 2024, when he made 29 starts and recorded all seven of his career interceptions.

Taylor-Britt also returned an interception for a touchdown in both of those seasons, underlining his ability to make game-changing plays in the secondary.

Across his four-year career, he has registered 203 tackles, four tackles for loss and two forced fumbles.

Although Taylor-Britt will miss the regular-season opener, he remains eligible to practise with the Colts and play in their pre-season fixtures. 

However, he will not be permitted to be with the team during the week leading up to the opening game against Baltimore.
