Blake Snell set for Los Angeles Dodgers return against Kansas City Royals

The Los Angeles Dodgers are set to welcome back two-time Cy Young Award winner Blake Snell from the injured list when they host the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts confirmed on Friday that Snell is expected to make his return, while newly acquired left-handed pitcher Tarik Skubal will make his home debut against the Royals on Monday.

Snell has made just one start this season after beginning the campaign on the injured list with shoulder fatigue.

He returned to the rotation for a game against the Atlanta Braves on 9th May but was subsequently placed back on the injured list after undergoing surgery to remove loose bodies from his left elbow.

The veteran left-hander has endured several injury setbacks over the past three seasons, limiting him to just 32 regular-season starts.

However, he played an important role in the Dodgers' successful World Series campaign last season, recording 41 strikeouts in 34 innings with a 3.10 earned-run average as the club secured a second consecutive title.

Skubal joined the Dodgers from the Detroit Tigers in a blockbuster trade at last week's deadline.

The two-time defending American League Cy Young winner made his Dodgers debut against the Chicago Cubs, allowing two runs over six innings in a 5-1 defeat.

It is pertinent to mention that the Dodgers enter Friday night's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks on a season-high six-game losing streak, adding pressure to the return of their pitching stars.
