Frank Warren says Lee Reeves 'making progress' after hospitalisation

Queensberry promoter Frank Warren has provided an encouraging update on Irish boxer Lee Reeves on Thursday, saying the fighter is ‘making progress’ after being admitted to hospital following his bout in Dublin last weekend.

The 31-year-old was taken to hospital after suffering a knockout defeat to Gary Cully in their contest for the vacant BUI Celtic super-lightweight title at the 3Arena on Saturday.

Reeves was knocked out in the 10th round and was stretchered from the ring before being transferred for medical treatment.

Earlier this week, Reeves' condition was described as critical but stable, prompting an outpouring of support from across the boxing community.

Warren said the latest reports had been positive as Reeves continues his recovery.

"My team have been in touch with Lee Reeves' team and he is making progress. That is what we're hearing and thank the Lord for that," Warren said.

The veteran promoter stressed that Reeves' recovery would require patience and ongoing care.

"With Lee it's all about time. Time hopefully can be a healer," Warren added.

Warren also expressed his hope that the Irish boxer would soon be reunited with his loved ones as his condition improves.

"Get back to his family as soon as possible," Warren concluded.

Reeves, a southpaw from Limerick, had been challenging for the vacant BUI Celtic super-lightweight title when the contest ended in dramatic fashion.
