Jaylen Brown puts team success first after joining Philadelphia 76ers

Jaylen Brown has made it clear that team success will take precedence over personal achievements as he begins a new chapter with the Philadelphia 76ers following his summer move from the Boston Celtics.

The 2024 NBA Finals Most Valuable Player was officially introduced by the Sixers on Thursday after completing his July trade from Boston.

Brown joins a formidable squad featuring NBA all-time leading scorer LeBron James, who arrived from the Los Angeles Lakers during the off-season, former league MVP Joel Embiid, All-Star guard Tyrese Maxey and highly rated rookie VJ Edgecombe.

Despite coming off the highest-scoring season of his career, Brown said he is prepared to adapt his role if it improves Philadelphia's chances of winning an NBA championship.

"My focus is winning," Brown said.

"My focus going into every practice, every meeting, every shootaround, every film session is like, 'How do we win night in and night out?'"

"Sometimes that may change, sometimes it may look different, but whatever it takes," he said. "At this point in my career, nothing else really moves me."

Brown, who spent 10 seasons with the Celtics and helped the franchise win an NBA title, averaged more than 28 points per game last season after posting a career average of 20 points.

He also stressed that Philadelphia's wealth of talent alone would not guarantee success.

"Obviously on paper we're excellent," Brown said.

"But I've been around long enough to know that just what you have on paper don't really mean nothing."
