Dillon Brooks signs contract extension with Phoenix Suns through 2030

Phoenix Suns forward Dillon Brooks has agreed to a three-year, $73 million contract extension that will keep him with the franchise through the 2029-30 NBA season, according to international media reports on Wednesday.

The 30-year-old has been rewarded after enjoying the finest campaign of his nine-year NBA career, playing a central role in helping establish a tougher identity under new head coach Jordan Ott.

Brooks averaged a career-best 20.2 points per game last season, alongside 3.6 rebounds and 1.8 assists, as Phoenix exceeded expectations by securing 45 regular-season victories and a place in the playoffs.

The Suns have also retained much of their squad during the offseason, handing multiyear deals to Collin Gillespie, Mark Williams and Jordan Goodwin, while adding Miles Bridges and Luke Kennard to strengthen the roster.

Brooks, who arrived in Phoenix from the Houston Rockets as part of last summer's Kevin Durant trade, has quickly become a cornerstone of the team's defensive identity.

Suns CEO Josh Bartelstein and general manager Brian Gregory worked alongside George in recent weeks to finalise the fully guaranteed extension, ensuring Brooks avoids entering free agency in 2027.

Team owner Mat Ishbia also demonstrated his commitment to keeping Brooks in Phoenix.

Earlier this year, responding to speculation on X about a possible trade involving the Los Angeles Lakers and Austin Reaves, Ishbia wrote: "Don't bother calling... Suns aren't interested. Dillon's not going anywhere."

Brooks featured in 56 regular-season games after missing 18 contests with a fractured left hand suffered in February.

Renowned for his physical defence and competitive edge, Brooks has reached the playoffs in five of the past six seasons and was instrumental in helping the Suns improve from 27th to ninth in the NBA's defensive rankings last season.
