PCB hands Hamza Nazar two-year ban with heavy fine

LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has banned domestic cricketer Hamza Nazar from all domestic and international cricket for two years and fined him PKR1 million after concluding an inquiry into information he submitted during a visa application process.

According to the PCB, the disciplinary action followed an investigation into details provided by Hamza Nazar while applying for a visa through the Board.

The inquiry found that he failed to disclose complete and accurate information, provided misleading details and withheld material facts during the application process.

To examine the matter, the PCB formed a three-member inquiry committee, which gave Hamza Nazar an opportunity to present his case and respond to the allegations.

After considering his explanation, reviewing the available evidence and taking all relevant circumstances into account, the committee submitted its findings and recommendations to the PCB.

Following a detailed review of the committee's report, the PCB decided to suspend Hamza Nazar from all forms of domestic and international cricket for two years. In addition to the suspension, the Board imposed a fine of PKR1 million.

The PCB reiterated that it treats cases involving misrepresentation, non-disclosure and the submission of misleading information with the utmost seriousness, stating that such conduct falls well below the standards of honesty, professionalism and responsibility expected from individuals associated with Pakistan cricket.

The Board further stressed that it would not tolerate any action that could damage the reputation of the PCB, Pakistan cricket or the millions of supporters who passionately follow the sport.
