Motie's four-wicket haul powers Guyana to dominant win over Lahore Qalandars

GUYANA: Gudakesh Motie produced a match-winning spell as Guyana Amazon Warriors thrashed Lahore Qalandars by 53 runs in the sixth match of the Global Super League (GSL) 2026 at Providence Stadium on Monday.

After being asked to bat first, the Warriors posted 164-9 in their allotted 20 overs, thanks largely to a brisk half-century from opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz and valuable contributions from Mohammad Haris and Romario Shepherd.

Gurbaz top-scored with a fluent 65 off just 35 deliveries, striking six fours and five sixes. Haris chipped in with 34 from 28 balls, including four boundaries and a six, while Shepherd provided late impetus with a 19-ball 29, featuring one four and two sixes.

The rest of the batting line-up struggled to make an impact. Quentin Sampson fell for one, Shimron Hetmyer managed eight, Rovman Powell was dismissed without scoring, Mohammad Nabi made two, Motie added six and Dwaine Pretorius contributed five.

For Lahore Qalandars, Mehran Mumtaz and Michael Bracewell claimed two wickets apiece, while Mohammad Imran, Usama Mir and Delano Potgieter took one wicket each.

In reply, Lahore Qalandars were bundled out for 111 in 17.2 overs as Motie ripped through the batting order with a superb spell of left-arm spin.

Farhan Yousaf was the top scorer with 28 off 19 balls, smashing one four and two sixes. Abdullah Shafique and Parvez Hossain Emon scored 21 runs each, but no other batter managed to offer meaningful resistance as the Qalandars suffered a comprehensive defeat.

Motie was the standout performer with outstanding figures of 4/27 from his four overs. 

Dwaine Pretorius claimed two wickets, while Matthew Forde, Romario Shepherd, Imran Tahir and Mohammad Nabi picked up one wicket each to complete the convincing victory.
