Pakistan team earned qualification based on final standing at Women's Junior AHF Cup, says continental body
KARACHI: The Asian Hockey Federation (AHF) on Tuesday formally invited the Pakistan junior women's national team to participate in this year's Women's Junior Asia Cup.
In an official letter to the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF), the Asian governing body shared that the national women's junior team "earned" its qualification for the continental tournament on the virtue of its final standing in the Women's Junior AHF Cup, which concluded last week.
Notably, Pakistan finished last in the five-team tournament after losing each of their four matches against Hong Kong China, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Bangladesh.
The AHF further requested the PHF to confirm its junior women's team's participation by Friday in a bid to facilitate the timely completion of all preparations, including accreditation, travel and scheduling of the upcoming tournament.
"The Asian Hockey Federation is pleased to congratulate the Pakistan Junior National Team on its successful qualification for the Women's Junior Asia Cup 2026," the AHF's letter to the PHF read.
"The team has earned qualification based on its final ranking in the Women's Junior AHF Cup 2026.
"This letter serves as the official confirmation of your federation's qualification and eligibility to participate in the Women's Junior Asia Cup 2026, subject to compliance with all tournament administrative requirements and regulations.
"We kindly request your federation to confirm its participation by 24 July 2026 to facilitate the timely completion of all tournament preparations, including accreditation, travel, accommodation, scheduling, and other operational arrangements."
It is pertinent to mention that, subject to PHF's acceptance of the AHF invitation, the national women's junior team will participate in the upcoming tournament for the first time since 2012.
