Carlos Alcaraz may be away from the tennis court, but the Spanish star still found himself at the centre of attention after his animated reaction during Spain's FIFA World Cup final victory over Argentina went viral on social media.

Alcaraz was among the high-profile guests at the showpiece event, where Spain secured a dramatic 1-0 extra-time win over the defending champions.

Although the 22-year-old was not involved in the action on the pitch, one moment from the stands quickly captured the imagination of football fans around the world.

During the closing stages of normal time, Nico Williams appeared to have given Spain the lead after finishing from a Mikel Merino pass.

However, the celebrations were cut short when the goal was ruled out following a review. Television cameras immediately caught Alcaraz's stunned expression as he reacted to the decision, and the clip rapidly spread across social media.

Before kick-off, Alcaraz shared the spotlight with South Korean actress Jung Ho-yeon as the pair were invited to present the FIFA World Cup trophy ahead of the match. 

The appearance further highlighted the tennis star's growing global profile beyond the sport.

Alcaraz was also seen wearing a wrist brace while watching the final, suggesting he is still managing his recovery during the ATP Tour's summer break.

Following Spain's eventual victory through Ferran Torres' extra-time winner, Alcaraz joined in the celebrations as La Roja lifted the World Cup.

With his competitive return approaching, the four-time Grand Slam champion is expected to remain in the United States to continue his preparations ahead of next month's Cincinnati Open.
