NBA Summer League: Trey Alexander stretchered off after injury scare

LAS VEGAS: Utah Jazz guard Trey Alexander was taken from the court on a stretcher after suffering a worrying injury during his side’s NBA Summer League clash against the Chicago Bulls here at the Thomas & Mack Center on Monday.

The 23-year-old appeared to injure his side or abdominal area while driving towards the basket in the fourth quarter.

Alexander made contact with Bulls forward Caleb Wilson as he attacked the rim and released a shot before moving behind the basket while holding the affected area.

Moments later, Alexander collapsed to the floor in visible discomfort and was attended to by medical staff. The guard was eventually removed from the court on a stretcher with just over two minutes remaining in the game.

The Jazz did not immediately provide details on the severity of Alexander’s injury.

Utah’s Summer League head coach Steve Wojciechowski said he did not have a clear view of the incident and could only confirm that Alexander was receiving treatment from the team’s medical staff.

Alexander recently signed a two-way contract with the Jazz after an impressive season in the G League.

He was named the league’s Rookie of the Year for the 2024-25 campaign and also featured in the NBA for the Denver Nuggets, appearing in 24 games.

The former Creighton standout played three seasons of college basketball before deciding to enter the professional ranks, ending his final year of eligibility early. He also spent time with the New Orleans Pelicans last season, making nine appearances.
