Liverpool sign England goalkeeper Khiara Keating on three-year deal

Liverpool have completed the signing of England goalkeeper Khiara Keating from Manchester City on a three-year contract following the expiry of her deal at the Women’s Super League champions.

The 22-year-old returns to work with Liverpool manager Gareth Taylor, who previously guided her breakthrough at Manchester City.

International media reported in June that Keating had rejected a contract extension offer from City amid interest from Liverpool.

Keating played a key role in the club’s success last season as they won their second WSL title.

However, competition with Japan international Ayaka Yamashita limited her opportunities, with Keating starting only four league matches.

The goalkeeper expressed her excitement at joining Liverpool and becoming part of their ambitions.

“[Liverpool is] such a big club and I think the women's team is striving for greatness,” said Keating.

“I think the style of football that they play suits me and my position. They're just going in the right direction and [it is] a project that I want to be part of.”

Keating made her England debut at the Etihad Stadium in October 2025 and was included in Sarina Wiegman’s squad for the Euro 2025-winning campaign.

She was later called up for crucial Women’s World Cup qualifiers against Spain and Ukraine but missed out due to concussion.

She enjoyed a breakthrough season in 2023-24 under Taylor, becoming the youngest goalkeeper to win the WSL Golden Glove after recording nine clean sheets.

She will now aim to secure regular first-team football and help Liverpool challenge for trophies.
