Konsa preferred over Spence as England name line-up against Norway

Ezri Konsa will start at right back for England as he replaces the suspended Jarell Quansah in Saturday's World Cup quarter-final against a Norway side that made one change from the team that beat Brazil in the last 16.

Quansah was banned for two matches after being sent off in England's last-16 match against Mexico.

Konsa finished the Mexico match at right back and has been chosen ahead of Djed Spence. John Stones was included in place of Konsa in the centre of defence.

Noni Madueke replaces Bukayo Saka on the right wing with Anthony Gordon retained.

Norway coach Stale Solbakken added Andreas Schjelderup on the left wing in place of Antonio Nusa, who has started four of his nation’s five matches at the World Cup.

Erling Haaland leads Norway's attack, with captain Martin Odegaard also starting.

England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford is set to appear in his 18th World Cup match, breaking a tie with Peter Shilton for the most appearances for the country at soccer's global showpiece event.

England knocked the co-hosts Mexico out of the FIFA World Cup after a 3-2 win in the Round of 16.

Norway sank five-time champions Brazil to reach the quarter-finals after a 2-1 victory.
