Nepal to host India A for T20 series in December
All three T20s between Nepal and India A to be played at TU International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, says CAN
KATHMANDU: Nepal will host India A for a three-match T20 series in December this year, the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) announced on Friday.
In a statement on its official X, formerly Twitter, handle, the cricket board shared that the tour was finalised after a meeting between CAN president Chatur Bahadur Chand, secretary Paras Khadka and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Devajit Saikia, which took place on the sidelines of the International Cricket Council (ICC) Annual Conference in Edinburgh, Scotland.
The CAN further shared that the TU International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur will host all three matches of the historic series, scheduled to be played on December 9, 11 and 13, respectively.
"Nepal will host India A in a three-match T20 Series at the TU International Cricket Ground, Kirtipur," the CAN wrote on the microblogging website.
"The series was confirmed following a meeting held during the ICC Conference in Scotland between CAN President Chatur Bahadur Chand, CAN Secretary Paras Khadka, and BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia."
Notably, the series will serve as a vital opportunity for Nepal to further hone their skills after a spirited performance at the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 in India and Sri Lanka, during which they registered their maiden triumph at the prestigious event by defeating Scotland.
Although their victory over Canada remained their solitary win in the 20-team tournament and the emerging Asian nation finished at the bottom of Group C standings with three points in four games, they were widely appreciated for their spirit.
Nepal backed their encouraging performance at the mega event with a 2-1 series triumph over United Arab Emirates (UAE) at home to further bolster their credentials as one of the emerging sides in world cricket, especially in T20Is.
