South Africa U19 women's team reaches Karachi for historic Pakistan tour

KARACHI: The South Africa U19 women's cricket team on Friday reached here to embark on their maiden tour of Pakistan, comprising a five-match T20 series.

According to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the South Africa squad touched down on Friday evening, checking in at the Jinnah International Airport here.

Upon their arrival here, the touring side will rest tonight and will kick off their preparations on Saturday, which will continue until July 13 – the eve of their series opener against the Green Shirts, scheduled to be played here at the National Bank Stadium, which will also host the remaining fixtures on July 17, 19, 22 and 24, respectively.

The upcoming series will serve as a vital opportunity for the national team to prepare for the ACC Women's U19 T20 Asia Cup, scheduled to take place later this year in Pakistan and the ICC U19 Women's T20 World Cup, set to take place early next year.

For the unversed, the upcoming home assignment will mark Pakistan's first since their tour of Bangladesh in December last year for a five-match T20 series, which they won 3-2.

Earlier that year, Pakistan also participated in the Women's U19 T20 World Cup and finished fourth.
