BCB names Taskin Ahmed as Mustafizur Rahman's replacement for Zimbabwe T20Is

DHAKA: The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has named fast bowler Taskin Ahmed as Mustafizur Rahman's replacement for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Zimbabwe after the left-arm seamer was ruled out with injury.

Mustafizur sustained a right hamstring strain during the opening ODI of the series and has been ruled out of the remainder of the tour. He will return to Bangladesh to continue his rehabilitation and is expected to be sidelined for four weeks.

Taskin had initially been granted a No Objection Certificate (NOC), along with Litton Das and Hasan Mahmud, to miss the Zimbabwe T20Is and participate in the full Lanka Premier League (LPL) campaign. However, the BCB revised its decision following Mustafizur's injury.

Chief selector Habibul Bashar confirmed that Taskin will now feature in the T20I series before linking up with his LPL franchise.

Taskin and veteran all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan are set to represent Jaffna Kings in the LPL, while Litton Das and Mehidy Hasan Miraz will play for Galle Marvels.

Meanwhile, Hasan Mahmud, who is currently representing Kent in the T20 Blast, is expected to join Colombo Strikers ahead of the tournament.

The Lanka Premier League is scheduled to run from July 17 to August 8.

Meanwhile, the T20I series will get underway on July 15, with the first match set to be played at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo, which will also host the remaining two fixtures on July 17 and July 19, respectively.
