Beth Mooney returns to rankings summit after Women's T20 World Cup heroics

DUBAI: Australia's in-form opener Beth Mooney has reclaimed the top spot in the Women's T20I batting rankings, replacing fellow opener Georgia Voll, the International Cricket Council (ICC) confirmed on Tuesday.

According to the apex body, Mooney, who was adjudged the Player of the Tournament at the recently-concluded 12-team mega event for her consistent performances, topped the global rankings for the fifth time in her glittering career.

The 32-year-old accumulated 238 runs in the tournament at a remarkable average of 47.60 and a strike-rate of 142.51 with the help of three half-centuries, two of which came in the semi-final against West Indies and the blockbuster final against hosts England.

Her batting brilliance not only earned her the second Player of the Tournament award at the ICC Women's T20 World Cup but also helped her leapfrog fellow opener Voll, who slipped down to the second spot with 779 rating points, six less than Mooney.

South Africa captain Laura Wolvaardt occupies the third spot with 771 rating points, followed by her West Indies counterpart Hayley Matthews at fourth with 754, while India's left-handed opener Smriti Mandhana rounds up the top five.

In another major movements, England captain Nat Sciver-Brunt climbed up five spots to 16th, while South Africa's Tazmin Brits jumped three places to 11th.

Sciver-Brunt finished as the third leading run-scorer of the Women's T20 World Cup 2026, accumulating 227 runs in just four innings at an astonishing batting average of 113.50.

The England captain was closely followed by Brits, who piled up 225 runs in as many innings at not all but an equally impressive average of 75 with the help of one fifty and a century, which came against Netherlands in the group stage.
