Two Pakistan players named in Perth Scorchers' squad for GSL 2026

Reigning Big Bash League (BBL) champions Perth Scorchers on Monday announced their squad for the Guyana Super League (GSL), scheduled to be played scheduled to be played from August 7 to September 20.

Australia's experienced middle-order batter Ashton Turner, who led Multan Sultans in this year's Pakistan Super League (PSL), has been named as the captain of the Scorchers XI, whose squad features six overseas cricketers including Pakistan's Usman Khan and Sufiyan Muqeem.

Muqeem, who is currently representing Derbyshire in the ongoing Vitality Blast 2026, had finished as the leading wicket-taker of PSL 11 with 22 scalps in 11 innings at a remarkable average of 14.40 and thus was also adjudged the player of the tournament.

Usman, on the other hand, finished as the fourth-highest scorer of the eight-team tournament as he accumulated 389 runs in 11 innings at a decent average of 35.36 and a hefty strike rate of 162.76. He also registered one century and three fifties.

Meanwhile, Scorchers' overseas stocks further feature New Zealand's Mark Chapman, South Africa's Dian Forrester and West Indies' duo of Ackeem Auguste and Akeal Hosein.

Scorchers, who won their record-extending sixth BBL title earlier this year, will start their GSL 2026 campaign in the curtain raiser on August 7 when they take on three-time PSL champions Lahore Qalandars at the Providence Stadium in Guyana, which will host all 12 matches, including the final.

The five-team competition will also feature ILT20's Desert Vipers, the Major League Cricket's (MLC) San Francisco Unicorns and Caribbean Premier League (CPL) side Guyana Amazon Warriors.
