WWE confirms two blockbuster matches for SummerSlam 2026

NEW JERSEY: WWE has officially confirmed two marquee matches for SummerSlam 2026 following the latest episode of Raw which took place at the Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, setting the stage for a pair of high-profile rivalries to culminate at the company's biggest event of the summer.

The first confirmed contest will see World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns defend his title against longtime rival Seth Rollins, while Brock Lesnar and Oba Femi will settle their heated trilogy inside Hell in a Cell.

The rivalry between Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins has been reignited after Rollins confronted the champion on Raw, reminding Reigns that despite years of battles and shared history as former members of The Shield, he has never truly proved he is better than Rollins.

The psychological challenge struck a nerve with Reigns, who initially dismissed the proposal before accepting the match later in the show. Their SummerSlam showdown adds another chapter to one of WWE's most storied rivalries.

The two former Shield stablemates have headlined multiple premium live events over the years, with Rollins often holding a mental edge over Reigns through mind games and crucial victories.

This time, the World Heavyweight Championship will be on the line as Reigns looks to silence his longtime rival once and for all.

Another major announcement saw Brock Lesnar return to confront King of the Ring winner Oba Femi, who had been expected to reveal which world champion he intended to challenge at SummerSlam.

Instead, Lesnar interrupted the celebration and proposed one final showdown between the pair inside Hell in a Cell. Raw General Manager Adam Pearce later made the match official.

The rivalry has become one of WWE's fiercest in 2026. Femi shocked the wrestling world by defeating Lesnar at WrestleMania 42 before Lesnar levelled the series with a victory at Clash in Italy.

With both men holding one win apiece, their Hell in a Cell encounter at SummerSlam will serve as the decisive chapter in their trilogy. Femi has even put his guaranteed world title opportunity on hold, insisting that ending his rivalry with Lesnar is his immediate priority.

With two blockbuster bouts now confirmed, WWE has begun building an impressive card for the two-night SummerSlam event, scheduled for August 1 and 2 at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.
